Mixer Cinema Concerts #9

| date: 25 August 2001

Audio visual performance night. Among many others, a performance by dj Washing Machine and his dog (a remotely controlled washing machine dances and plays records). OT31, Amsterdam.

Artists from The Hague are notoriously difficult to find – wild, shy and nocturnal. Living underground these creatures leave their holes only occasionally to feed, drink and then mate. Even in the Hague sightings are so rare that some say that Artists are now completely extinct. Do not miss then this exciting opportunity to see live, in captivity a large group of these animals – emitting their strange noises and displaying visually. But be alert…entering is at your own risk. Mixer Cinema Concerts can not take any responsibility for injury or loss of personal property. The Hague special with former Bunker and Acid Planet stars – Featuring: Shitcluster – Spll – Geranium – dissonant Easys – DJ Washing Machine – Next to Nothing – The blue star acid experience.

I remember a serious discussion about electronic dance music, and  everyone was sitting in chairs.  Shitcluster had to ask the audience to stand up, before they started their demonstration of electronic dance music.
Salò Mentale also played that evening.

The Devil Is In The Detail

| date: 23 November 1998

Closer to 1999, another cassette album was produced in a similar manner, and as a follow up to ‘A New Face In Hell’. “The Devil Is In The Detail” was marginally successful:  nobody said they hated it. This time the production methods had been more professional, hence less noise, but the overall satisfaction level did not increase accordingly. Somehow, Matt fom Scotland sincerely wished to put our music on vinyl, which he actually did, and sloburn001 was released in the year 2000. The track ‘Wheels Of Steel’  is an excerpt of our first live performance in The Hagues infamous loser bar ‘Cafe Koos’, where again nobody  complained out loud. Which is truely different from getting no attention at all.

A New Face In Hell

| date: 23 July 1998

Early 1998 we felt the need to do something different. Attempting to break the golden tekno rules, we gathered some crappy equipment and began sampling tiny bits of Charlies old record collection. Substance abuse made it difficult to properly connect the wires, but we managed to record a couple of C60 ferro cassettes eventually.  Some months later we selected the better parts to compile our conceptual cassette album. The only  criterium was that it had to  sound good enough on the car stereo. Copies were sent to our former tekno heroes all over the world (anonymously, though). More copies were accidentally left behind at our friends places, and record shops.
