Catalogue Number: SD11Back in stock! Sh*tcluster first appeared on our radar with the queasily ketmine influenced ‘bitslutch’ ep for bunker records last year, an indefinable trip into lofi experimentation with a properly dark attitude with really caught my attention. A little further digging reveals that Sh*tcluster are a multimedia collective based in Den Haag with a sporadic catalogue of CDrs and 12″s released over the last 10 years. The ‘doop’ ep for the wicked Syncom data imprint shows another facet of their style, this time coming with a far more danceable brand of experimentation on the four ‘doop’ variations. The tracks on offer strut and stumble around a collection of rough cut samples pieced together with roughshod slow house tempo drum machine rhythms and a darkside experimental attitude, perfectly crafted for headphone mooches around the dirty brown streets of Den Haag, or so i’d imagine. To be completely honest i’ve never really heard anything quite like this before, the synths are detuned to head melting extremes, and layered over some of the queerest hypnotic rhythms in a totally unique fashion which challenges the listener to decide between standing, sitting or curling up into the foetal position for the best listening experience, personally i’d recommend the foetal position. Fans of Like-A-Tim, the Bunker label or just damn strange music need to check this without fail. Comes on brian melding purple vinyl and very highly recommended indeed….

date: 8 September 2007Walking around at Molyvos harbour (Greece). deliberately recording a shaky video, because I wanted to test the Deshaker plugin for virtualdub. It takes a while to get the settings right, but the end result is impressive. The camera seems to float, but the artifacts (the plugin steals bits of surrounding frames to fill in the missing parts) prove that it didn’t.

King Kong
date: 28 July 20073×10 Single Project
date: 13 July 2007This mini album is part of a 3 x 10 inch single package by Unit moebius anonymous, Shitcluster and Geranium.
The vinyl (lathe cut) pressing was done by Peter King Records in New Zealand, then shipped to the Netherlands, where we labeled the records manually. The three singles were then tightly wrapped in old fashioned wallpaper, and marked with a potato stamp.
Watch Peter King at work (youtube playlist):
Each set includes a DVD with video clips, made by local artists and friends from Den Haag. The video project’s code name was SVP2: a follow up to SVP (Shitcluster Videoclip Project). The rules of the project are: make a video clip, and use or abuse the soundtrack of your choice in any way you like.

Most of the packages were sold out (non-profit), long before they arrived from overseas. The sound quality varied per record.
A release party was given in de illusie, former residence of Bunker Records and Radio Tonka, and the oldest squat in The Hague at the time (it was evicted and torn down earlier this year). Shitcluster, UMa and SWM played live, and 2 deejays made sure nobody stayed too long.
Evil lurks in DEN HAAG on Friday the 13th of July. Shitcluster, Unit Moebius and Geranium present their long awaited very limited edition handmade 3×10 inch single package on a semi private release party somewhere in DEN HAAG. There will be 3 seperate live performance + DJ. THe package comes with a Video CD which also contains mp3 versions of the singles. All videoclips will be shown BIG SCREEN. Become Shitlcuster’s FRIEND or Unit Moebius FRIEND to get invited personally ; – P

Been listening to that last record you sent me this morning and it’s fucking great. Classic ‘cluster!Played that “things in music” tune on the radio the other week too.
Anyway, keep at it, cos it still sounds dark and groovy and totally
unique.Pete
